There are so many things that can contend for the attention of a person in our world today, which can keep us from living The God First Life, ranging from hobbies to our 9-5 to our constant need to fit in.
The idea of living the God first life is prioritizing God in our lives, putting him first, second and third. Leading a life of God over everything life, over fear, over worries, over fitting in even over that 9-5.
THE “GOD FIRST” PHASE
EXO. 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
The above passage was when the bible recorded the ten commandments, the first rule to living the God First Live is to not have or serve any other god(s) before God. Ever wondered why this was the first commandment? Fast forward to
Deu 5:8You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below
The passages above clearly talk about prioritizing God over everything in our lives, personally I think this law has to be the missing key to leading a happy and fulfilling life.
Let’s look at it this way, imagine having direction from God in everything, from the choices you make at work, to your investment choices, down to the cloths you wear or the words to say when seeking for favor or an opportunity.
Just think of how easy it would be to finally achieve that goal or dream or New Year resolution solely because you decided to put God first.
The God First Phase isn’t a onetime deal luckily for us, it’s a life time deal, an endless supply of prosperity and good health. I mean God said it in 3John 2.
WHY GOD FIRST
MATT. 6:33 ” Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.“
Still wondering why God first?? I mean it’s clearly stated, all we have to do is find, follow and trust God and all others things will be given to us.
In all my business negotiations this has to be the sweetest deal there is, I mean what all this negotiator is saying is, come find me, when you do, hold on to me, follow my ways and trust me and I’ll give you everything.
It’s as simple as that.
HOW TO PUT “GOD FIRST”
Anything can be an hindrance to putting God first, the bible said in exodus says, “you shall have no other god before me” In this case the “god” doesn’t necessarily refer to an image carved out of gold, it refers to idolizing a person, a thing or even a feeling.
We need to ask ourselves are we bowing down to God or to our bosses at work, to materials things or to a particular feeling?
Putting God first has to do with putting away distractions, challenging and confronting any form of humanism that is in contrary with the word of God.
The key to having an abundant life, Gods joy-peace-love is keeping him as the first priority, having a God first life, keeps us in sync with the Holy Spirit and generally makes life easy for us all.
Here’s a simple formula to apply;
Intentionality+ God Priorities-distractions= GOD FIRST LIFE.
